Two men were badly injured after stabbing each other in a knife fight over a woman on Christmas Eve, police sources said Sunday.
The dispute erupted between a 39-year-old man and the 37-year-old boyfriend of his ex-wife at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, officials said. Police did not release their names.
After the knife fight, the older victim jumped in a livery cab but passed out his the way to the hospital.
Police pulled over the cab about a mile south of the stabbing scene for driving erratically, sources said.
The man was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition. He suffered stab wounds to his face and neck.
The other victim left the scene in the backseat of a private vehicle. He arrived at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia in serious condition, with multiple stab wounds to his stomach, back and face.
Both men underwent surgery. Police said each of them claims the other was the aggressor.
Both are in police custody with charges pending.
