A middle aged man in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, allegedly killed his wife during a quarrel over his lover.
The father of five, Christopher Okon, who is a driver with a company in Port Harcourt was allegedly cheating on his wife Mrs. Nsikak with his co-tenant.
Nsikak, who sold cooked food, came back from the market to find out that her children had been fed by her husband's lover.
When Nsikak questioned her, the alleged mistress immediately called her lover, Okon, who quickly came back and allegedly started beating his wife.
He then pushed his wife out from the house at 2am and locked the door. At dawn, the woman was seen struggling with breathing in front of the compound.
The neighbours who were angry, dragged Okon outside and compelled him to carry his wife's remains.
One of Nsikak's friends, Beauty, described the incident as painful and shameful.
Beauty accused Okon of ignoring his responsibility as a husband, regretting that he (Okon) rather preferred to flirt around with women in his compound.
"This man, popularly called Papa David, never took care of his family. He is sleeping around with women, including married women. He is a driver in a very big company, yet his wife was suffering, catering for the children and even him.
"Her death is very painful. The man will never go unpunished. He has killed her now. So, who will take care of the little children? The youngest baby is less than two years old."
The police said there was no formal report of the incident made.
