Generations actress in court over shoplifting

The case against Maggie Benedict, who plays Akhona on Generations, has been postponed because CCTV footage of her allegedly shoplifting could not be transferred onto the defence team's computers.
Prosecutor Fikile Hlabangani told the Randburg Magistrates Court, west of Johannesburg, that the laptop on which the footage was saved didn't have the right software for it to be transferred.
He said the footage was shown to Benedict's lawyer, Jonathan Kaiser, earlier in the morning.
Benedict was arrested last year for allegedly stealing a packet of Panado tablets worth R17.90 at Checkers in Johannesburg's Cresta Mall.
Kaiser previously told reporters that Benedict's case would not even go to trial because the charges levelled against her were ridiculous.
